Florida Fails to Grant Unemployment Benefits to Thousands

Of the 825,000 unemployment applications submitted to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity during this pandemic, only about 35,000 have been processed. Those who have successfully applied are now struggling to request their benefits as the website repeatedly glitches and therefore becomes inaccessible. Labor and employment attorney, Ryan Barack, is quoted in ABC Action News explaining that the system is "punishing people who lost their jobs."
